Lutetia, Lutetian: the story behind our name

Before it was called Paris, the city was called Lutetia. We borrowed our name from it, and here is why.
Lutetia, the Paris of ancient times
More than two thousand years ago, the Romans called Lutetia the town of the Gallic Parisii tribe, settled on the Île de la Cité. The name Paris comes from this people.
Lutetian, the stone of Paris
The word also refers to Lutetian limestone, the pale stone quarried beneath Paris. It is the stone of the Louvre, Notre-Dame and the Haussmann façades.
Why this name for a chauffeur house
Because a great chauffeur should be like Paris: timeless, discreet and built to last. Lutetian Chauffeur is the soul of Paris, since Lutetia.
Fluctuat nec mergitur
The motto of Paris — "tossed by the waves, but never sunk" — sums up our promise: whatever happens, your journey goes ahead.
